I was having a look at the start menu properties and changed to classic menu. Went to switch back and now my start menu is blank apart from IE7 and windows mail at the top. I can click on all programs and it flicks to all programs, but the original menu is blank and I cannot find out how to get it back. I have filed a bug report. Does anyone know how to fix this glitch please? thanks.

start menu bug
Do entries start to appear below the line under Vista Mail as you use various programs? The two you named are pinned to the Start Menu and would show up because of that.

so what he is saying is.. make sure that you have the taskbar set to
"Store and display a list of recently opened programs"- This is located in teh Start Menu tab(in the privacy box) in the Taskbar and start menu control panel.
Once you have that checked open a couple programs and go back to look at your start menu, it should be populated(I am not sure if this is reset when you switch between aero and classic)

Sorry for the late reply, looks like windows mail has messed with this thread. I have those options ticked and the start menu still remains blank but with IE7 and Mail pinned at the top.
But do new entries appear as you use programs? Try starting some programs to see if they start showing up on the menu afterwards.

Yes they are now thanks. I wanted the old options back though :-) Thanks for the lead.
Be sure to report it as a bug since you have a reasonable expectation that the list would remain after you had changed to Classic and back.

Yep I have reported it. It was the first thing I did when I realised I could not get it back. Thanks.
